The goal of analyzing Kroc is to gain a better understanding of how you lead people, as the underlying assumption here is that he successfully led customers (internally and externally) in creating the fast food powerhouse that McDonald’s is today. In other words Kroc became a success and he worked with, hired and led people in his business and given that he was successful at it, there must be a few key things we can learn from this hospitality/fast food icon. This analysis also seeks to identify best practices in leadership, compare Kroc’s leadership to these best practices and how it can be applied in today’s hospitality industry which is comprised of but not limited to hotels and restaurants.

Who was Raymond Albert Kroc?
Raymond Albert “Ray” Kroc (October 5, 1902 – January 14, 1984) was an American businessman. He joined McDonald’s in 1955 and built it into the most successful fast food operation in the world. Kroc was included in Time 100: The Most Important People of the Century, and amassed a fortune during his lifetime. He owned the San Diego Padres baseball team from 1974 until his death in 1984. Similar to another fast-food giant, KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) founder Harland Sanders, Kroc’s success came later in life when he was past his 50th birthday (Wikipedia Contributors).
